- - - Born in Cambridge, Minnesota, Jonathan has kept with the transient tradition of his family by making his home in California, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Florida. Jonathan has a varied interest in artmaking that encompasses both conceptual and process oriented projects. His latest works utilize found objects, video and overhead projections, and/or single-stitch crochet. Whichever approach he brings into play, it is employed in the exploration of the idea at hand and is underpinned by either research or personal experience. Jonathan's exposure to art began through the world of craft. From watching his Grandmother crochet, to his studies in guitar building in Minnesota, to making ceramics and building kilns in rural Illinois, Jonathan has developed an intense interest in well-made, hand-crafted works. His studies in fine art and art theory began with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and include an MALS degree from the University of Miami. |
