An early foundation in fine-woodworking and pottery was Jonathan’s foray into art making. His later studies in sculpture, video art, fibers, art history, art & technology, and liberal arts culminated in a MALS from the University of Miami, and a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Jonathan’s sculptures, videos, installations, and new media projects have been featured in: the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale; the Torrance Art Museum in CA; the Frost Art Museum in Miami; the Union League of Chicago; Art Monaco; Scope - Basel, Miami, and New York; and ArtPulse Magazine.
He was awarded the South Florida Cultural Consortium for Visual Art in 2010, a fellowship and residency at the Oxbow School of Art in 2004, an Artist’s Grant to pursue a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2013, and an Arts, Science, Culture Collaborative Initiative grant to collaborate with a physicist from the University of Chicago in 2014. Currently, Jonathan can be found working in his South Florida studio, teaching college part-time, cultivating his butterfly garden, and hanging out with feline friends.
