Early foundations in fine-woodworking and pottery were my foray into art making. The various manual labor positions and graveyard shift work undertaken for over a decade while pursuing my undergraduate studies are also a significant influence. Later graduate work in Liberal Studies and Fine Arts also provide historical, critical, and theoretical frameworks for these projects.
Some of these projects have been featured in: the Torrance Art Museum; the Frost Art Museum; the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale; the Union League of Chicago; Art Monaco; Scope - Basel, Miami, and New York; and ArtPulse Magazine. Awards include: the South Florida Cultural Consortium for Visual Art in 2010; an artist's grant and residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2013; an Arts, Science, Culture Collaborative Initiative grant to work with a physicist from the University of Chicago in 2014-15; and a summer fellowship at the Oxbow School of Art in 2004.
Based in South Florida, I can also be found cultivating our butterfly garden, and hanging out with family and feline friends. I am also a co-founding member (along with neuroscientist turned artist & developer Mike Hadley) of the art collective {ecodedobjects}.
